How Does it Work?
1. Air Handling Units (AHUs): Draw in outside air, filter it, and mix it with recirculated air.
2. Cooling/Heating Coils: Chill or warm the air using refrigeration or hot water/gas.
3. Fans: Blow the conditioned air through ducts to various zones.
4. Ductwork: Distributes the conditioned air throughout the building.
5. Vents/Grilles: Deliver the conditioned air to occupied spaces.
6. Thermostats/Controls: Regulate temperature, humidity, and airflow.
7. Chillers/Boilers: Provide chilled water or hot water/gas to the AHUs.
8. Pumps: Circulate water or refrigerant throughout the system.
Commercial HVAC systems often use:
Rooftop units: Self-contained systems mounted on rooftops.
Water-source heat pumps: Use water as a heat source/sink.
Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems: Adjust airflow to match changing cooling/heating demands.
